On the Podcast this week: The power of God through the gospel to rescue lost sinners: Galatians 3:4,5 In Galatians 3:4, 5 we find more rhetorical questions which are designed to shame the Galatian readers to hold onto the gospel and not go back to law-works. We discuss number of important gospel issues, including why it is misguided to look for common ground with unbelievers. The process of doing so is fundamental to the seeker movement and has proved to drive the gospel out of many churches. We need to preach the wrath of God against sin and the answer which is the blood atonement. Paul does not think their suffering was in vain, but raised the idea to shame them into repenting. We also discuss what Paul means by “works miracles among you” in Galatians 3:5. We put this in context and show how the working of miracles does and does not apply today. We point out that the wrath of God against sin is always relevant to lost sinners and that escaping from that wrath through the gospel is truly a “work of power’ such as Paul mentions.
