On the first day of the movement, I plead if this is not where we make our stand, where then? For 75 days, we stood firm and tall. This is our integrity, our spirit, our soul. People call this a revolution, but what is a revolution? If it is nothing but a momentary burst of passion seeking to overthrow a regime, whats so great about it? I like my sisters view much better, a revolution is a forceful rupture in history to create a suspended space and time that makes radical imagination possible. A revolution is in itself a utopia. In 75 days, we made a utopia. This is the first time, that we the hk people come together to recognize that we are one body seeking to determine our own future. You may be in the square, outside it, support it or against it, but for the first time we are confronted with it: the question of who we are and what we want. For the first time, Hong Kong people discover that we are no longer mere echoes of external power, capable of nothing but submit or resist, for the first time, we discover that we have a voice. It is so rough, so chaotic, so immature, almost like a baby first realized that he can utter sounds and words sheerly by his will. We are excited, fascinated, frustrated, and confused. It is always rough and messy in the beginning. But we will learn. we will learn to speak: first to speak out our will, then to speak to each other. I deeply believe that the tearing of social fabric right now can be just the preparation we need for a real conversation among us. We will learn, we have to learn , if we are to survive and thrive as one community. I love the Hong Kong people, including those I hate (well, most of them anyway), let alone those I merely disagree with. So thank you Hong Kong. In 75 days, you taught me so much about what it means to be a citizen. With our umbrellas, we stand as one Wrapped in voiceless fear but we stand as one With our umbrellas, new dreams begun Reaching for every right that belongs to us Let come the storm , let grow our spirit Dont you see the blossoms of the night? Blooming in the rain. When we wrote this song, we mean every word of it. Tonight will end, tomorrow will come. For all the morrows, we journo on. 加油 :-)
