On the first days of my presidency, a water dam near Tehran was leaking. Some said the company that built the dam must come to fix it. They said: Could we ever fix it on ourselves?! Some were affected by inculcations from the Pahlavi regime, our youth made an effort and pursued dam construction. Today, by the grace of God, the Islamic Republic is the best in the region in dam constructions. In our region, no country is as capable as the Islamic Republic in construction of great dams- whether concrete or earth dams. The dams we have constructed, are better and have higher capacities compared to those of the same types constructed during Shah era by foreign companies and of course we constructed them with far less expenses, too.
