On the morning of my daughters wedding: I woke before everyone else and reflected on the last year. It has been a joy. Ive only ever hoped for one thing for Meagan and that is for her to be happy and as I watched Stephen and Meagan turn to one another last night in the rehearsal and prepare to commit to love eachother I could see in her eyes that she is happy. I could see in his face that he loves her. She is happy and I am thankful. There are plenty of ups and downs in planning an event like this. Details like programs and table linens and flower choices all seems so overwhelming and important and I feel so fortunate to be the mother who got to guide her through the process. I had a different experience with my mother passing away before my own wedding day so it meant so much more to me to be there and be the one who could say This is how you address this envelope or Maybe if you register for this item and who got to say Oh, Meagan. Yes. This dress makes you look like a bride and you are beautiful That was a magical moment every mother dreams of and I was able to be there and share it with her. Thank you God for letting me be there for that moment and all of them in between. I am thankful. All of those things seem important but last night they stood facing each other and she is going to be his and he will be hers and theyre promising to love, nurture and support each other until the end of time and I looked around and saw their friends who love them and their families who support them and I knew that this is right. This is good. This is the man who makes my girl happy. They are taking the first step on a journey together this evening and on my daughters wedding day I just want to say that I fell in love with her the moment they placed her in my arms. We are placing her in your arms tonight Stephen and I know youll make her happy. That you will love her. Thank you God for putting Stephen in Meagans life and for giving her a partner to lean on and to love. I am thankful for Your blessing them in this way. Meagan, your father and I love you so very much. I can only hope that as you walk this road that you will have someone who comforts you, supports you, protects you, believes with you and will love you as your father has loved me. Our family grows by one today and we welcome Stephen into our family but we also are thrilled that you and Stephen are becoming your own little family now and I pray God will bless you and that your family will be as full of love and fun as the one you grew up in. Daddy, Dylan, Boris, Cassidy, Sirius and I all love you so very much. You will be exquisite today -- perfect and beautiful. I see the fingerprints of God when I see you and I know that you will be a blessing to your husband as you have been to us. My heart is joyful. My heart is full. My heart is thankful.
