On the personal side this afternoon... (Sorry if this is a repeat. I have tried to post this a few times today. I feel its important so I wish to try again). I love this couple! They are amazing. I was first memorized by Nicholas and Sheryl on an episode of Oprah in 2009. They were introducing their new book Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. It was life changing for me. They shared their research and world experiences and explained how we can change global poverty and extremism. This can be done by solely focusing on saving women and their children from brutality and giving them tools to lead them out of poverty. The sentiment that struck me and what I say often, went something like this If you empower a woman, she will in turn save her family and then the community. I believe this to be true and have tried to align myself with charities that encourage and empower women like Dress for Success Vancouver. I also work with and counsel many women to show them their true potential and the possibilities available to them. As a mortgage broker I often say my motto is to assist individuals to invest in themselves through home ownership but my passion is to assist women to be independent home owners. Women will change this world and for the better. I am very excited for their new book. Another fantastic movement for moral change and the betterment of our world.
