On this final day of National Foster Care Month. I thought that I would post how grateful that I am to have so many role models that have brought us into doing this, they have paved the way for us and many others to help kids that just need a chance to live life in a loving home. While we dont get our kids full time until Wednesday, we have had the honor and privilege to have at least 2 of them every weekend for a couple months now. I know some friends and family look at us and say they are just foster kids, or they are adopted so they really arent yours......Nope, those ARE our kids. You can never truly understand the impact that a child that you have never met before can have on you until they walk into your life and house. People seem to point to these kids as bad kids, but thats not the case at all, they ARE all great kids that never had the guidance to be great. They were never taught manners, they were never taught that honesty is the way to live their lives, they were never taught to not lie or steal..... Once you become a foster parent, you are now given that chance to mold these young souls into upstanding people. YOU get to teach them what they were never taught, because most of them want just that, a caring person to show them right from wrong. And while you are doing this, one day that foster kid looks at you and calls you mommy and daddy, and that very second, you know that no matter how hard the challenge, its all worth it. ~ Andy
