On what basis can all restrictions of Shabbat and Yamim Tovim be - TopicsExpress

On what basis can all restrictions of Shabbat and Yamim Tovim be suspended, in order to save life. The Jewish State of Israel found itself drawn into a war situation with an internationally proclaimed Terrorist Organisation, Hamas. Since the disengagement from Gaza in 2005, the residents of Southern Israel have been subjected to rocket attacks, whilst our fellow Jews in Judea and Sameria, were subjected to acts of terror (Fogel Family as an example). The duty of our state is to defend our people and hence we were drawn into a war situation not of our making. No true Jew wants to take a life unnecessarily, however, we are not only entitled to but commanded to make our enemies flee from before us. There is not and should not be any moral dilemma facing Israeli Forces. Wherever the enemy chooses to place an arsenal, it becomes a legitimate target. If the enemy choose to leave civilians in such locations, then the fault of their deaths lie not with Israel but with those who designated schools, refugee centres and hospitals as legitimate targets. Israel cannot accept the blame for one civilian death in Gaza. Hamas in using civilians must take 100% of the responsibility.
