Onazi May Miss Namibia Match -Seeks Permission For Coppa Italia Parade SS Lazio of Italy fast-rising midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi may be missing among the Super Eagles’ ranks next Wednesday, when they take on Namibia in Nigeria’s penultimate match of the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers. This is sequel to reports from the eagles’ camp that the youngster is seeking permission to travel back to Italy for this weekend’s trophy parade of the Coppa Italia he won with his club last Sunday. Onazi actually missed last weekend’s friendly against Mexico and delayed his trip to the Eagles’ camp in Germany because of his desire to play in the final against city-rivals, AS Roma, which he did and, while additional reports suggest he is still battling to sort out his residence permit in Italy, the youngster has opted to get on the plane back to his base. Should Onazi eventually get a nod from Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi and team officials for him to make the trip back to Italy this weekend, he may find it difficult linking up with the squad for their trip to Namibia and could be exempted from the game instead. However, travelling back to Italy will see the product of My People FC of Lagos appear among his Lazio mates, as they embark on a trophy parade to showcase the historic Coppa Italia trophy won at the expense of Roma. In an official statement on their website, Onazi’s club confirmed the dates for a week-long event for the parade in Italy, stating in part: “The SS Lazio is pleased to announce to all their fans a major initiative: the Tour Tim Cup. “From Friday, June 7 until Saturday 15 the Italian Cup will be on display in one of the Lazio Style 1900 Official Store with the schedule with dates as follows: Friday, June 7 - Lazio Style Soracte, Saturday 8 June - Lazio Style Parco Leonardo. “Sunday 9 June - Lazio Style Valmontone, Thursday 13 June- New York Style Prenestina, Friday 14 June- New York Style Calderini and finally on Saturday 15 June- New York Style Talents.” With all the above dates confirmed as published on sslazio.it, Onazi is now expected to make a frantic trip back to Italy to rejoin the Biancocelesti and possibilities of him linking up in time for the match against Namibia now appear very slim.
