One big problem facing us Muslims is the lack an appropriate response or solution to our challenges as an ummah, even though we may have the answer at our disposal. If someone commits blasphemy against our prophet s.a.w, we start burning down our infrastructure in protest of such a provocation. That is a double loss. When we refuse to establish the Islamic system and feel comfortable living under man-made laws in place of the Shariah, then disasters and catastrophe of the likes of Boko Haram, ISIS, will continue to spring and decimate the very Muslims that forgot about the divine laws found in the quran and sunnah, and by extension, forgot about Allah Azza wa jal. When good people fail to do the right thing, criminals will use the ideology, get sympathizers, and that is it. The Muslims are the direct victims of insurgency wherever you go, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, etc and here in our country. Doesnt that ring a bell. We have to establish the Islamic system in our lives first, then apply it to our societies. There are a dozen ways to go about it without hurting the feelings of others. Even the constitution of Nigeria recognized this, thats why it made provisions for Shariah courts and Shariah court of appeal. But the question is, have we Muslims ever tried to follow the lawful means of enacting the Islamic social order in our societies? The answer is capital no. Previous attempts were just politics. Except we as an ummah demand for such a binding necessity in our lives, splinter groups of dangerous proportion will never cease to arise. Because we left a big ideological crack for any crook enemy to utilize. This is our situation globally.
