One in three WA kids bullied Date: July 8, 2013 - 2:25PM | WA Today While that figure seems rather high this one doesn’t. “The Department of Health study concluded that more than 85 per cent of WA children were in very good or excellent health, according to their parents or carers. But the number classed as obese rose to 7.3 per cent - the highest recorded since 2005. "Furthermore, over half the number of children aged five to 15 years are not getting the recommended amount of physical activity per week or eating the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables," chief health officer Tarun Weeramanthri said. The annual report is designed to provide the health system and the public with information about all aspects of the health and wellbeing of West Australians aged zero to 15. While the report showed several positive trends, it also highlighted areas for improvement, Dr Weeramanthri said.” There is a simple solution, get your kids involved in grass root sports, such as pétanque.
