One of the best times to build muscle is after a stint of dieting where you have lowered your body fat levels significantly. When you are lean you are in a better position to build muscle with the right dietary and training structure in place, in my Opinion. When I work with a client who is looking to build muscle mass if they arent lean I will get them lean before we begin a growth phase. Once we begin the mass phase I still focus on keeping them as lean as I can whilst allowing them to grow. This comes down to getting the balance right, feeding them the right nutrients at the right time and training intelligently. This is where my experience comes into play!!
