One of the many benefits of working in fitness as an instructor, trainer and educator is the opportunity to see the transformation of people and students. Whether its a weight loss success story, or somebody who goes from being a recreational gym goer and then turns into a competitive athlete. Or when we take regular riders and they find their voice and become instructors - it is an absolute pleasure, honour and joy to see them seek their passion and watch them grow and to be present at the early stages. This young man Glen is a shining example of a kid who was struggling with his personal life, decided to come to TAFE to study fitness to break his negative cycle. Fast forward 5+ years he now runs a successful personal training business and a youth rehab program. I am proud to say that I know Glenn and so impressed with what he has chosen to do not only turn his life into the positive but to support others to do the same. 5 years ago he was quiet, unsure and obviously troubled - now you wouldnt reconginze him. Change is possible if you work hard. Glenn is just one of the many people I have seen grow within the fitness industry - and take a dream and make it reality. If nothing else on the days where I question why I dont have a normal job in an office or a bank and work from 9-5 with holiday and sick pay - I think of the students like Glenn I never wouldve met.The fitness industry is not always the best paid job, the hours are tough and it can get hard on the body - but times like these is why it doesnt matter. I feel fortunate to not only have been at the beginning of their journey and I hope to have helped them see their potential, but in turn they inspire me to stay true through their success. Kate Tueli, Elizabeth Kalabakas, Karen Gorman, Sam Gee, Ashleigh Rankin, Marko Dangubic, Dan Buff,Dion Lucas, Trent Jarvis, Lili Simpson, Loretta Falcone and many more - you kids never fail to amaze and impress me. Keep up the fantastic stuff and thank you for making my teaching days at TAFE worthwhile. I feel like a proud mama bear when I see all that you do.
