One of the most amazing and beautifully arresting sights Ive been privileged to witness on the streets of Dublin is the sight of an elderly couple (60+ years old) walking along, holding hands, with that look in their eyes that only a strong love ironed on the anvil of life can give. Now that, methinks, is battered, beaten, tried, tested but gloriously shining love! Makes me wonder what is all this spawn of glandular drives, hormonal upheavals, butterflies in the stomach, short-lived irrational delight which we romantically ascribe to being in love … but quickly fall out of after 6 months (or even less) ... and like neurotics who have just regained our sanity, look at the person later and wonder what possessed us to think of them as a god(dess)! …. Just thinking! Selah
