One of the things that I like about the times I get to read Facebook from the browser is the activity feed on the right hand side where I see posts and more importantly comments from my friends. Today I got to go and read a long (over 250 comments) thread because Tom Kratman had commented on it. I have two observations to make. The first, is that the more I learn about the SFWA...the more I wonder what their purpose is. I have come to think of them as an organization that has as its core purpose to glorify its members and to prevent as many people as possible from becoming successful SF/Fantasy authors. Reading this comment thread just magnified that belief. The second observation is that Tom Kratman is a wonderful writer (so is Quilly Mammoth) and I adore reading his words in almost every format. If he is ever in the San Antonio area he is welcome to drop by my house where I will treat him to my best grilled steak and ply him with the beverage of his choice if only to get a chance to converse with him on topics ranging near and far. OK enough of the fanboy gushing...but seriously Mr Kratman, if you are ever down in South Texas, I will gladly take you to dinner, or grill you a meal.
