Only a matter of time now. I want to keep the younguns contained - TopicsExpress

Only a matter of time now. I want to keep the younguns contained in here at least until I can capture Cleo and put her in the carrier for a visit to the vet. Guernsey escaped out of the bedroom a few minutes ago. Clyde and Bonnie are smart enough to go in and out almost at will. They are quick going out whenever the door opens....they are ready....and realize they have to be just as quick coming back in....but until lately, the kittens never made a serious attempt to go out with Bonnie and Clyde. That changed a bit ago. Guernsey escaped from the bedroom when Ron was trying to get Murphy and Suzy out to go outside. We are petrified that Clyde will get outside again....hes soooo clever! Anyway, you should have seen Ron and me trying to catch Guernsey. Because of her traumatic capture when she was little, she will NOT tolerate being picked up. We cornered her in the kitchen though....and Ron was able to pick her up and carry her back to the bedroom without being scratched. :) Now shes walking around in here doing her plaintiff meow. Im trying out the new sifting litter box. If I had to give a review....its great for the poop but not for the pee. :) The urine clumps stick to both sides of the sifter...and must be scraped into the waste container. Even after scraping, the wet clumps collect in the little holes, so I had to take it outside and hose it clean. Its also heavy, if you put too much litter in. It is fairly big. The first few minutes it was down, Clyde tried it out and Guernsey had to get in there WITH HIM, LOL. I DO wish that all the litter boxes had some kind of sifting mechanism now. Im using that sifter box to empty all the other litter boxes too. Just using one of the boxes that comes with the new sifting litter box as a waste box, and pouring all the boxes into that, through the sifter....scraping the clumps that stick to the bottom. Then dividing the clean sifted litter back up between the 3 boxes. Its working pretty well. It has a cover, with a swinging door that is supposed to sit on the bottom tray...and the tray has high sides. Im not using the cover yet. I dont know how well the kitties would take to one with a cover yet. I must say....its not easy keeping up with five cats!
