Opening Win Thrills IK Uche Villarreal of Spain striker, Ikechukwu Uche is making the best of his devotion to club football, after getting shut-out of the Super Eagles in recent months, and has received extra boost for his efforts with victory achieved in the first weekend of the new season in the Primera Liga. In reaction to his club’s 3-2 victory away to fellow-La Liga newcomers, Almeria at the start of this week, IK Uche said he is happy to have kicked off his 2013/14 campaign with The Yellow Submarine on a winning note. Although the former Racing Ferol, Recreativo Huelva, Getafe and Real Zaragoza striker fired blanks during his 62 minutes on the pitch, before he was taken off for Jonathan Pereira, who eventually scored the winner, IK said he enjoyed the opening day win. While Villarreal celebrate maximum points on opening day, Uche will have to fish out his goal scoring boots, as fierce competition for first team spots is expected to get more intense in the days ahead, but the petit Aba-born attacker is relishing the team’s surge of the moment. The striker revealed as much with an entry on his official Twitter account, in which he expressed pleasure at the impressive start by Villarreal, while also thanking his fans for their support, stating: “Always good to start with victory. Thanks for your support.”
