Opportunity for transitioning military/veterans - HIMSS Veterans Career Services Information, Offerings and FULL Travel Honorarium to attend HIMSS15 Good morning– I am the Program Manager for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Veterans Career Services Initiative. I am also a veteran – retired USAF MSgt. HIMSS, in collaboration with Bellevue College and the United States Department of Labor, Education and Training Administration, is committed to assisting our veteran population gain knowledge of professional development and employment opportunities within Health Information Technology (IT). The goal of the Veterans Career Services initiative is to welcome transitioning military veterans into the health IT field – a growing and promising area for technologically-adept veterans. I wanted to pass along a great opportunity for transitioning military members, veterans and military spouses to attend our HIMSS15 Annual Conference. This year, not only do I have a pre-conference symposium (VCS Career Boot Camp) during HIMSS15 and complimentary registrations to both the preconference and full HIMSS15 conference, but I have secured several Chapters who are funding travel honorariums for VCS guests. INFO: HIMSS Veterans Career Services (VCS) is gearing up for HIMSS15. The event will take place 12-16 April, 2015 at the McCormick Center in Chicago. If you are unfamiliar with the HIMSS Annual Conference, you should know it is the largest health IT event in the industry and THE place where healthcare professionals, clinicians and executives from around the world gather to explore the value of health IT through education, networking and solutions while discovering new ways to advance innovation, make a greater impact and improve outcomes. Last year’s conference: 38K+ attendees and 1,200+ employers/companies on the exhibit floor. This year, VCS will host a pre-conference Career Boot Camp for our VCS attendees. The one-day event will take place April 12, 2015 and will focus on making a successful transition from military service to a civilian career. Our goal is to identify and understand initiatives, transition challenges, and lessons learned through briefings and interactive discussions featuring veterans and subject matter experts.
