Optim physician offices are closed today due to the storm but will re-open tomorrow. Optim Medical Center-Tattnall, Optim Medical Center-Jenkins and Optim Medical Center-Screven are open for emergency services and to care for existing inpatients. In the meantime, here are some tips on coping in this icy weather: - Avoid driving but if you must, be sure to wipe any ice from your windshield and roof, drive slowly and give yourself extra room to react. - If any snow accumulation needs to be shoveled, be sure you are in proper shape to be shoveling or ask for a neighbor’s help. Make sure you stretch before and after, use your legs as much as possible, hold the shovel close to your body and don’t twist your upper body too much when throwing snow. - If you do need to go outside, be sure to wear shoes with good traction and don’t forget the hat and gloves. - Have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy being inside on this rare cold day!
