Orlando Pirates insist they will not be bringing striker Christopher Katongo in to their ranks as the destiny of the Zambian international continues to be a hot topic in local football circles. Katongo was close to clinching a deal with Chippa United this past week but the two parties failed to reach an agreement on the signing-on fee. It is believed that Katongo’s demands were considered too high for Chippa – a development that ultimately saw the deal collapsing. The player is now being linked to Pirates, who have the financial muscle to rope him in. Two other clubs – SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic – are also said to be after him.
