Our 213th LOD Commander, Colonel McQuade, sets out some new - TopicsExpress

Our 213th LOD Commander, Colonel McQuade, sets out some new changes for FY 14, beginning with our new Unit motto, which emphasizes our two core Army Values: Selfless Service and Respect of Self and Others. COL McQuade, writes: “FY14 offers new challenges for the 213th LOD. There are also some changes on the horizon for FY14. One of those changes is our unit motto. Effective immediately, the new unit motto will be “Soldiers First, Justice Always.” The former motto (“Sue You, Sue Me!”) was fun, but the new motto demonstrates the focus that I would like to see from our Leadership and from the 213th as a whole. The motto simply states the standards that we all should uphold. As leaders, we are charged to take care of our Soldiers and put their needs above our own. “Soldiers First” should also be our first thought as we provide service to Soldiers and other clients. Also, remember that we are Soldiers first and that our jobs and MOSs are what we do in addition to being Soldiers. For this reason, we will put more emphasis on basic soldiering during our Battle Assemblies. Of course, Justice is the watchword of the JAG Corps. We represent Justice to all those we serve in our daily duties as Lawyers and Paralegals. But we should also practice justice and fairness when leading our Soldiers. They deserve our best effort, and Justice is the cornerstone of treating members of the unit with dignity and respect. Our new motto states our emphasis on how we want to be perceived by the JAG leadership and serves as a personal reminder to each of us why we do what we do. It also emphasizes two core Army Values: Selfless Service and Respect of Self and Others. So going forward, let’s proudly proclaim our motto in formations so that our fellow units will know what it is that we as the 213th do best, “Soldiers First, Justice Always!”
