Our Learning from Food For Thought: This is sad news. Tough - TopicsExpress

Our Learning from Food For Thought: This is sad news. Tough times for small independent F&B players. The lack of big-time capital to ride out a tough patch can be punishing. We are experiencing that ourselves at Food For Thought and its been quite a (masochistically) interesting year for me figuring out how to compete at a similar level as the bigger brands with much less experience and resources. All the problems these guys faced - maintaining food consistency, ensuring service quality, facing up to unexpected big expenses in maintenance (for us it was the ageing airconditioning units we inherited at our Botanic Gardens outfit) - we faced in our own context too. Thank you everyone of you who has supported FFT through the years. I never ever want to take it for granted that every single person stepping through our doors is a literal God-send that helps us stay in business. You guys are a tremendous blessing and we will always try to do right by you - especially for those of you who experienced our lapses and mistakes. Next year will be our 7th year running. Some say that the number 7 means perfection and completeness. I will certainly hold out for that hope that 2014 we will build in more of that in our indie brand that is learning to grow up fast!
