Our organization rescued your dog this week. Volunteers spent - TopicsExpress

Our organization rescued your dog this week. Volunteers spent their Sunday driving two hours to get her from the pound. A generous volunteer of ours who owns a boarding and grooming facility allowed us to use his tools and donated some supplies so we could spend another two hours shaving the fecal encrusted mats out of her, cleaning her ears, and trimming her nails that had spiraled twice and were piercing her paws. You should know it took us four rounds of shampoo to clean the filth and urine from her fur. She looks and feels much better now. Her coat is fluffy and beautiful. I know this as I spent a day petting and snuggling her in a heated blanket. Another volunteer spent her day driving her to the vet today and sat with her while her nails were trimmed again, she was poked and prodded, had her eye pressures tested, and had a treatment plan put together. Im sure you know she is fully blind. She unfortunately isnt eligible for eye drops, as they wont help her ever see again. We are thankful her eyes dont appear to be painful. Her teeth are destroyed- but dont worry, we have a bunch of other volunteers working hard to fundraise for the dental she will need. She is very underweight, probably a combination between her mouth hurting too bad to eat and the fact blind dogs cant fend for themselves when you drop them off in the middle of no where in a ND winter. Luckily, some supporters helped us with a food drive this past weekend and we had donated around 600lbs of 5 star food she will be eating. In case you were curious, that smell coming from her ears was a severe infection. She has some specialized wax in both of her ears now to fight the infection...which will make it difficult for her to hear for the next week. Dont fret- her fosters have been researching ways to acclimate her to their home despite her challenges. They have plans to make different rooms different scents so she can learn to live an independent and happy life while we search for her forever home. They have plans for sounds to communicate with her about her locations. We will get her a blingy collar to help show off how beautiful she is inside and out- and gave her a sassy name. Her new name is Vivy. I dont know who you are, or how you can sleep at night after what you did. I do know that because of an awesome organization, with supporters that continue to selflessly donate and spread our message- Vivy will find herself an amazing home. She will never go without again. It is my hope for you that you never own another animal again- and that you think of her face and what you did to a helpless blind dog anytime you are tempted to buy another dog from a pet store window. Dogs like Vivy are everywhere and they have a chance because there are good people left in this world. Please, adopt dont shop. Donate. Volunteer. Educate. Share FB posts. Attend events. It matters.
