Our philosophy here is that CrossFit is for everyone. We truly believe that functional movements, those inherent in the human blue print are the way to get EVERYONE in better shape. However, I have become increasingly aware that even our Couch 2 CrossFit program can be intimidating for many. The reality is that a large portion of our society is in really bad shape. Not just obesity, but from a functional standpoint--many folks have trouble getting up from a seated position, walking, and dont even talk about getting up from the floor. So whats the solution? Obviously, these people are not going to sign up for CrossFit, despite the fact that CrossFit is scalable to ALL. In my mind, it is especially important to get THESE people moving again. Thus, I have developed a new program specifically for this special population of people that are functionally failing. Here are the basics: The program is called FunctionFirst. The program is designed to increase strength in the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and bones, increase overall work capacity, enhance core strength, develop a baseline of endurance and conditioning, and improve mobility and agility. Strong people are harder to kill. This is a fact. However, strong people not only live longer, but they enjoy life more because they can do more. Quality of life = ones ability to do. This program is 90 days +. Depending upon the person, they could be ready for Couch 2 CrossFit in as little as 90 days. However, some will need more than this. When or if you ever decide to move up to our Couch program is 100% up to the client. Nobody is required to move up. This program requires a minimum of a 90 day commitment, which costs $250. The times for this class will be as follows: Monday - Thursday: 8pm Friday: Noon Additional noon classes can be added if the demand is there. Types of things you will be asked to do: Walk Stand up from sitting in a chair Wall push-ups Light lifting of various objects Nothing will be asked of you that you cannot comfortably do. We dont have to make you uncomfortable to make you better. If you are someone or know someone that has issues doing basic functional tasks then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. Ideally, this program will prepare individuals to attend our Couch 2 CrossFit program, however, this is NOT a requirement. FunctionFirst will begin on Monday February 10th at 8pm. If there is more of a demand for the Noon class, then we can add that in. Due to the nature of instruction needed, we will limit this class to the first 15 signees.
