Our vigilance has got Waste Managements Cottonwood Hills Landfill busted by Federal EPA last week. Numerous violations occurred in the inspection not related to smell. The rain fall has not been extreme (over 4 inches in 24 hours) in over a year. The violations will have the USEPA visiting Marissa regularly for the rest of time. The oldest part of the landfill is closed and large amounts of clay is sealing that area. Hopefully the extreme smell will not return. This is a major victory for living in Marissa and Lenzburg area.
