PARENTS OF CHILDREN IN JERUSALEM TWP. PLEASE READ.... At the township meeting on Sept. 10th during the update from the Recreation Dept. it was discussed to spray herbicides on the childrens baseball fields and soccer field. Trustee Bench wants to use Helena to do the fields because they use "Battlefield", Trustee Kiss nor Sheahan questioned that because of the lower COST.... NOW THE ISSUE... BATTLEFIELD is a HERBICIDE, and herbicides are TOXIC to children and animals. The National Fire Protection Association tarred is as a health hazard 2 (moderate health hazard) and the Material Safety Data Sheet indicates the hazards of this product and similar herbicides as follows: Can cause cancer, severe eye irritant, skin irritation, harmful if swallowed, may cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weakness & central nervous system depression, irreversible eye damage, and aggravate respiratory problems. Keep away from children and contact the CDC (Center for Disease Control) if you come in contact. NOW DO YOU THINK THE TRUSTEES SHOULD BE MORE RESPONSIBLE (ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE IS A FARMER AND SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HERBICIDES) WHEN DECIDING WHAT TO PUT ON THE CHILDRENS BASEBALL AND SOCCER FIELDS?????
