PASTOR FROM HELL - He raped and beat me Zinzi says her pastor husband abused and raped her. THE 28-year-old woman left her home last October to escape emotional and physical abuse. “My husband calls himself a man of God, but he raped and abused me. I left home to escape the abuse,” said the battered woman. She said her eight-year-old son saw the rape and abuse. Zinzi (not her real name) from Ivory Park said her husband, a pastor at a church in Ivory Park, swore at her and forced himself on her. “He said I was his property!” she said. “I thought that if I stayed and prayed for him he would change, but I was wrong.” She said that when she went home on 23 December last year to collect her belongings, her husband dragged her into the bedroom. She claimed he pulled out a knife, pushed her onto the bed and raped her twice. She also claimed that at the Ivory Park Police Station, a cop refused to open a rape case even when her husband admitted to him that he had raped her. “I was only given the option of getting a protection order,” she said. Last Monday, they were in front of her son’s school when her husband slapped her, she said. “I rushed home to get my cellphone. As I was about to leave he walked in and closed the door and said he was going to kill me. “He pushed me and I fell. He sat on me and hit me with a brick on the head.” “One of my neighbours broke the window and the burglar bar to get in. He pushed my husband off me,” she said. She said her husband tried to flee but residents caught him. Zinzi was rushed to Tembisa Hospital.
