PEACE, SECURITY, KEY TO ECONOMIC GROWTH, SAYS YERO Gov. Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State said on Tuesday that peace and security were strategic in the development of any country. He spoke in Kaduna when Mr Ben Mellow, the Head of Nigeria Programme, Department for International Development (DFID), paid him a courtesy visit. ``If we dont have a secured environment, nobody will come to invest here because security and development go hand in hand, he said. Yero, therefore, called the people of the state and Nigerians at large to live peacefully with one another. He said the people could contribute towards a safe society by reporting strange persons or objects to security operatives. He assured the people that security agencies were working tirelessly to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the state. The governor also appealed to DFID to continue with its programmes especially in the areas of security and agriculture. Earlier, Mellow had told Yero that there were over 15 ongoing programmes of DFID in the state. Mellow said there was the need for government to make concerted efforts to promote service delivery and economic growth. He reiterated the commitment of British Government towards promoting the well being of Nigerians.
