PERSON TO KNOW: Komla Afeke Dumor was a GHANAIAN journalist whose grandfather Philip Gbeho, composed the Ghanaian National Anthem. As of June 2012, Dumor was the main presenter of the BBC World News Program- Focus on Africa. Upon graduating from the University of Ghana & Harvard University with an MA in Public Administration, he started as the morning show host for Joy FM in Accra, Ghana & was named winner of the 2003 Journalist of the Year Award given by the Ghana Journalists Association. He joined the BBC African Service in 2006 as host of the radio program Network Africa. From 2008 to 2012 he presented The World Today on the BBC World Service & in 2011 he anchored The World News & Africa Business Report on BBC World News Television. In a list published in New African Magazine, he was named one of the 100 most influential Africans of 2013. Dumor died suddenly on January 18 2014 in his London home after a cardiac arrest at the age of 41. From the Staff of XFM we say R.I.P.
