PF Plans to Expel Guy Scott Some Patriotic Front senior members are plotting to move a motion to expel acting President Guy Scott following his walk out on the Central Committee meeting. Scott refused to budge on the demands for the Central Committee meeting to pick a presidential candidate for the highly divided ruling party insisting that the party goes for a convention. The pro Edgar Lungu camp is fighting to avoid the convention wanting the Central Committee to decide on a candidate a move that may further divide the party given the number of individuals that have filed their nominations and demanding a conference. According to sources within the ruling party there is growing desperation for the pro Lungu camp who have been trying to arm twist Scott into acceding to their demands but Scott has stayed resolute on demanding a convention. The sources said that a follow up meeting was called to review the proceedings of the Central Committee meeting that had at some point voted on the motion for either a conference or the Central Committee to elect a candidate and the pro conference were miserably trounced. However, Scott said he would seek the opinion of the Law Association of Zambia on the matter before the next Central Committee meeting. The pro Lungu camp wants to use their numbers to raise a motion of expulsion as they reckon he is a lone voice in the highly charged meetings.
