PLACEMENTS-URGENT DOCTORS-SINGAPORE & UAE UAE Pediatrician, dermatologist, allergy specialist, Gastroenterology, Orthopedic, female obs/gynae (with and with IVF), Embryologists To start a position they need to have a license for DHA or HAAD or DHCC or MOH. Otherwise they need at least 2 years post qualification experience. A.Resident Physician The doctor must: • be in active clinical practice; • have a basic medical qualification from an accredited medical university or medical school; • have passed the relevant national licensing examination in the country of conferment of basic degree, where applicable; • have evidence of at least 12 months housemanship/internship with a certificate of satisfactory completion of housemanship or equivalent; • have at least 5 years of post housemanship working experience as a doctor in the relevant field/specialty or possess a postgraduate medical qualification in the relevant field/specialty (e.g. a doctor who wishes to practise in the Dept of General Surgery in should have at least 5 years of post-housemanship working experience in surgical departments in whichever country they are currently practising in); (the 5 years does not include housemanship year); • have basic medical qualification recognised by SMC or if basic medical qualification is not recognised, the doctor must has a recognised postgrad qualification like MRCP or MRCS from the UK; • fulfil the English Language requirements of Singapore Medical Council (SMC); • have been registered as a medical practitioner in the country where he is currently practising in; • have been certified to be of good standing by the Medical Council or the relevant national authority. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (A) SPECIFIC 1. To be immediately responsible for the total management of patients in the ward with the assistance of the Nursing Officer / Staff Nurse in charge. 2. To clerk or are to help House Officers in the clerking of cases. 3. To review all new cases as soon as possible following admission and check on the House Officer’s findings and notes, and countersign these notes. To record their findings, differential diagnosis and suggestions for management of the case separately. 4. To be responsible for completing the Inpatient Discharge Summary Form and replying to referring doctors’ letters, informing them of diagnosis and progress etc within three days of the patient’s discharge. A copy of the reply must always be kept within the case notes. 5. Where asked, to write medical reports. Urgent reports should be prepared within a week and reports for non-urgent requests within two weeks. 6. To check on the case records for accuracy and completeness and should complete the diagnosis and disease index on the front sheet of the case records. In cases of difficulty, the Registrar or Associate Consultant should be consulted. 7. Responsible for assisting the Registrar and Senior Staff in the running of Specialist Outpatient Clinics. They should review treatment of cases from time to time but they should not make any major changes to the treatment regime or discharge long-term patients from follow up without the prior approval of the Consultant or Associate Consultant in charge of the Clinic. 8. To brief patients’ relatives on the patient’s condition. They must also make sure that these are genuine relatives. 9. Responsible for explaining procedures and operations to patients and relatives, as well as obtaining consents for such cases. 10. Responsible for signing death certificates. 11. Where necessary, with the help of Registrars/Associate Consultants, to obtain consent for autopsies for patients who have died in the hospital. 12. To inform the Registrar, Associate Consultant or Consultant on call of any VIP cases and major problems, including all referrals from other Departments. When on duty, they should not leave the ward or hospital without informing the Consultant / Registrar on call. (B) GENERAL 1. To perform any other duties as directed by the senior medical staff in their respective departments. 2. To participate in the hospital’s quality improvement activities. Remarks *International medical graduates are required to show evidence of proficiency in the English Language if their basic medical degree is obtained from a medical school where the medium of instruction is not English. Test results obtained from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Occupational English Test (OET), within the minimum score accepted by SMC can be considered, subject to a 2-year validity period based on the date of the test. • IELTS - at least 7 for ALL components (Listening, Reading, Writing AND Speaking) • TOEFL - at least 250 marks for computer based test or 600 marks for paper-based test or 100 marks for internet-based test • OET - at least Grade B business.b4bulls/company-profile/BHS-Overseas/
