PLEASE DONT REMOVE THIS AND SHARE. I HAVE POSTED THIS TO TRIP ADVISOR REGARDING TUTTOS ON WESTON SEAFRONT. I have a family member who works in tuttos and so have had a couple of pleasant experiences as I was served by said person and the food is good. Due to this I applied for a job. I went in for an interview where I was told to be seated and waited for a little while as the interviewer;the assistant manager, was making himself and the head chef a coffee. When he sat down he then asked if I had wanted one to which I replied not to worry . My interview lasted for 15-20 minutes including a show of the whole building. During the conversation I was interrupted on three separate occasions by the chef and neither of them apologised. After the third time when the chef had left us the assistant manager said, and I quote, He is such a cunt. (Excuse my use of this awful word but this is what he said) I was told they were looking for professional staff im sure you can see the irony here. I was asked if I had experience in the trade which I do but was not asked to prove any of it. He had obviously been out the night before and lets just say hygiene wasnt great; something other staff members mentioned at my trial shift. I was offered a 4 hour trial shift a few days onward. I later consulted my family member what I should wear as I was not informed. I arrived for my shift and was assigned a staff member to shadow. I was talking with her and another member of staff who were both gossiping and telling about other staff members and arguing with the wife of the head chef about what I should be taught first. She wasnt in uniform and as far as I was made aware nothing to do with the company. I was briefly shown how to wait tables; something I know from experience but the girl didnt know herself what time lunch menus started and I informed her of the time as it stated it on the board outside. A couple of times I had to seek her out as she was either loitering in the back or gossiping with staff members. Eventually I took my own initiative and worked alone. I was told we had designated serving areas and although I noted a couple that hadnt been served I was told not to serve them. I later saw them go to the bar to order. There is one entrance to the wash room which during the lunchtime rush had been partially blocked by highchairs due to the assistant manager feeling it necessary to use the busy period to fix a notice board to the wall using a drill whose wire was covering the remaining section of floor. I told him I nearly tripped when entering the dishwasher room, however I still had to be aware of it several times after. Health and safety no? I eventually worked out for myself how to use a till fully and was not supervised as I operated it or took payments from customers within an hour of me working. As things quietened I found I was the only member of staff clearing and re stocking tables; of my own initiative as the supervisor assistant manager and other staff members loitered chatting behind the bar. Upon the end of my shift I asked the assistant manager if we were going to chat before I left and he offered me a position but did not thank me for working 4 hours for free. He told me he would call me about my hours on Sunday (I worked the thursday) I did not receive a call Sunday. I text his personal number on Monday and received no reply. Today, Wednesday I decided that due to hearing nothing from the management in addition to my experience of how the place operates, that I would request my details back. Appalled is an understatement for what I experienced. I went in and politely asked for my details back as I no longer wished to work. When asked why by the assistant manager who interviewed me I said simply I had not been contacted as I had been told I would be. He then said has my family member not called me today? Said person had but due to me being busy and her being family I had not answered the call. I said that it may have been what I had been called for by said person but it wasnt the point as he had told me he would personally contact Me. I said Id also text and he hadnt replied. He told me he didnt have the phone, I do not feel it excused me not being contacted for three days. Another member of management butted in saying that my family member was a supervisor, I said regardless it wasnt her original responsibility to call me and that it wasnt exactly proffesional. Rather irritably he did go and collect my details. I lingered in the restaurant as I wanted to see my family member while I was there. Another supervisor was snotty with me for this. I was asked to wait for said person to come down so as not to disrupt their working, so I did. At this point the member of management who had said that my family member was a supervisor asked me why I didnt want to work. I repeated the issues with correspondence and said that during my interview someone referred to a member of staff as a cunt, when asked who i said I didnt want to cause issues. The assistant manager then asked me the same thing, I said that I didnt need any additional stress added to my life by working here, that I felt the management was unprofessional and that there were idle staff but that I was not wanting the assistant manager to take it as a personal knock to him as I had no personal quibbles with him I simply didnt wish to work in that environment. He then decided to patronise me in front of a brand new chef, the head chef and another staff member along with the backing of the other member of management, raising his voice and saying what do you know about running a restaurant youve only been here for four hours! At which point I asked why he was raising his voice at me and that i didnt want to argue with him about this and that the situation currently unfolding was In itself unprofessional. He continued to shout at me saying he refused to be spoken to with such attitude. I again questioned him raising his voice as I was not raising mine to which point he told me to get out. I was gobsmacked. I walked away from him and said he was being totally unprofessional to which he continued to shout across the restaurant for me to leave the building. When j didnt he picked up a phone threatened to call the police whilst walking toward me pointing at the door and yelling for me to leave. I have been banned from entering the building. I will be writing a formal complaint on this matter to the Meads and I sincerely hope he is removed from his position of authority as it has clearly gone to his head. Their is constantly staff leaving the place and positions available as no one can stand working in that environment. This place could do so well with its location and the beauty of the building but the management is a failure. To anyone considering applying for a job, no amount of money would make me work their and I certainly will be passing this info to everyone I know including Facebook advertising pages and with friends. I sincerely hope the owners sort this out otherwise the place will be desolate! Especially with other reviews which echo my experience of inexcusable customer service because at that point I was merely a customer.
