Ivy is a fun-loving 5 year old shepherd mix that’s been at Worcester Animal Rescue League for about a year. A staff favorite, Ivy loves to play and interact. She’s full of energy and enthusiasm - when it’s time to play - and when it’s quiet time, she’s calm and relaxed and the perfect companion to keep you company. She’s very sweet and affectionate and loves her belly rubs! However, don’t be surprised if you find her rubbing on your legs to get a little extra! Ivy is completely housebroken, and very well behaved when no one is home. She’s not a chewer or a destroyer, and is happy to relax and play with her favorite toys while you’re gone. Ivy is a great companion – even an ideal dinner date. She never begs for food and she’s content to keep to herself while you eat. For a larger dog, she’s great on her leash and easy to go for walks with. Though she won’t exactly mind if you stop and let her roll around in the grass or snow! As you can see, Ivy is very playful and LOVES to play fetch – it’s her favorite! Her favorite toy? Tennis balls! She’s very smart and quite adept and learning new things. Ivy is quiet and not a barker. You’ll find her to be pretty low-maintenance and not demanding of your attention, although she does love it! She’s in great health and has been spayed. You may notice the patches on her sides – but don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. She’s having a minor seasonal allergy that has caused some of the fur on her sides to fall out. As wonderful as Ivy is, she’s not for everyone. She’ll be best suited to a home with dogs her size or larger – or without any other pets. Smaller pets look like toys to her! She’s very excited when she meets new people and tends to jump. That being said, if you have small children, cats or smaller dogs, be sure to visit the shelter and see some of our other great companions! If you’re looking for a new friend that will make you smile, warm your heart (and your feet), then you might just have to come meet Ivy! Ivy will keep you laughing with her infectious good nature, and her love of life. Worcester Animal Rescue League is open 7 days a week from 12-4. Stop by and meet this great girl.
