PM Dr Manmohan Singh: I say with all the emphasis at my disposal that we are not at the 1991 levels and we will not go to it. No reason to believe that we are going down the hill. Speculators are not the best judges of the state of the economy. Depreciation of rupee puts in place a partial corrective. I hope exports will do well in the coming months. We have the means to put the economy back on the rails for high economic growth. I sincerely believe our growth rate this year will be around 5 percent. Fears that GDP may go down below 3% is entirely unfounded. No state govt took advantage of storage of onions,had they done so, prices would have been more stable.
