PM Narendra Modi enthrals many at Madison Square Garden, Congress says nothing new in his speech New Delhi: While Prime Minister Narendra Modis speech at Madison Square Garden enthralled many on Sunday, it failed to impress a few Congress party leaders who believe that the speech had nothing new to offer. Congress leader Rashid Alvi, while interacting with ANI, said that Modis speech had nothing new to offer and people welcomed him especially when he mentioned Ahmedabad. He also felt that it was a managed programme. Meanwhile, another Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said that Modi is so obsessed with the Congress party that he didnt not fail to criticise the party in abroad. “On one hand you take our policies forward and on the other hand in your speeches for public consumption you criticise us. This doesnt look good,” said he. Reacting to Modis announcement of schemes for Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, Shukla said that former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao had envisaged the idea of PIO and if the new PM does something about it then he should also consider the security aspect. Modi at Madison Square Garden, while addressing the crowd of NRIs, said that PIO cardholders will get lifetime Indian visa and that American tourists will be given visa on arrival. In a bid to facilitate hassle-free travel to the Indian diaspora, he announced the merger of PIO and Overseas Citizens of India schemes. Furthermore, he also announced that PIO card holders staying in India on long-term basis will no longer have to report to the local police station.
