PNG SCIENTIST WINS GLOBAL PRESTIGIOUS AWARD A senior scientist from PNG’s Institute of Medical Research has been awarded a prestigious global scientific award by the 3nd World Academy Science. Dr Moses LAMAN’s historic award makes him the first scientist from the Pacific Region, including PNG, to win an award from TWAS. Due to the high standard of eligibility and requirement for this award, no scientist from the region has been able to accomplish this achievement since the TWAS inception. Regardless, Dr Laman’s outstanding and strong publication track record of over 30 scientific publications- 15 of which is the first author and 12 as 2nd author, since joining IMR in 2007, enables his award. Dr Laman, age 35 has also won a travel agent offered by the Australian Academy of Science and the Royal Soceity to attend the 1st Commonwealth Science conference to be held in India in Nov to present the findings of his PHD research.
