POLAND - PKP Cargo Logistics has launched a railway connection with China in cooperation with Far East Land Bridge and Russian Railway Logistics. The first train reached Warsaw on Monday after a two-week journey. It left the Chinese city of Suzhou on October 1 with 43 containers worth of cargo. The company organizing the shipment on behalf of PKP Cargo Logistics is Cargosped, which will carry out loading, technical supervision and storage in Poland, as well as car deliveries from the terminal to the cargo’s final destination. Its not the first freight railway route between two countries. Earlier this year, a link between Chengdu and Łódź was set up, with the trains arriving three times a week. Shipment by train costs between four and eight times less than air freight and takes half the time a cargo ship takes to reach Europe.
