PRAYING FOR INDIA - Day 4: The state of Bihar has long been known as “the graveyard of missions”, with many obstacles to evangelization. Beside deep poverty sits widespread illiteracy, lack of resources in local languages (Bihari languages were for decades wrongly regarded as mere dialects of Hindi), strong spiritual opposition and persecution of religious minorities by the Hindu majority. The inhospitable environment, where malaria and disease are rife, spells very real danger to the lives or Christian workers and local believers. There is little collaboration among Christians and almost no Christian voice in public life. Pray that the Lord might demonstrate his powerful passion and love for Biharis through an unprecedented surge of ministry to these needy peoples. Praise God for the over 4,000 Indian missionaries now in Bihar, and the people coming to Christ. Bihar is one of the least-evangelized mega-populations in the world. It is 90% rural, one of the world’s highest rates. There are 24 districts (accounting for 57 million people) that are less than 0.03% Christian.
