PRESS RELEASE CIDG goes Global The sustained implementation of CIDG’s Strategic Initiatives/Electronic projects under the dynamic leadership of its Director, PDIR BENJAMIN B MAGALONG, gained breakthrough results and recognition not only in the Philippines but globally as well. Such recognition had been bestowed to CIDG when its representative was selected to represent the Philippines in the 2014 Global ICT Leadership Program. The affair was held in Seoul, South Korea from April 21-25, 2014. The PNP CIDG’s participation to the said program was made possible through the Korean IT Learning Program (KOIL) under the auspices of the National Information Society Agency (NIA) and hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and future planning. Its objective is to provide practical knowledge and insights to formulate and implement ICT development policy for senior ICT officials. One the highlights of the activity was the Country Report presentation where the PNP PATROL Plan 2030 was presented among the delegates by PSUPT RICHARD BACANI VERCELES, Chief of the Group Police Strategy Management Unit (GPSMU) of CIDG. It was attended by 27 delegates from 22 countries thoroughly selected by the NIA where the other delegates originated from Bolivia, Cambodia, Cameron, Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Libya, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Tanzania, Thailand, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Yemen. The five-day activity comprised of lectures on the National Informatization of Korea, National ICT infrastructure, Smart Grid, Mobile Technologies and Services, Big Data and Next Generation Network Technologies and standards. It also included study tours to the National Computing and Information Agency (NCIA) and Korea Minting Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) both located in Daejun, the Cyber Terror Response Center of the Korean National Police Agency as well as the Traffic Operations Information System (TOPIS) Center. The participants were awed with the advancement of technology in Korea which is shifting its paradigm from the present electronic government system to the next generation’s Smart Mobile Government. The smart government system promotes the use of public services and active citizen’s participation anytime and anywhere through the integration of smart devices and government services. It also enhances efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability at all levels of the government. Authority : PDIR BENJAMIN B MAGALONG, Acting Director, CIDG Date : April 29, 2014
