The Prince Georges County Government together with the Prince Georges Community College (PGCC), the Greater Prince Georges County Business Roundtable, the Prince Georges County Chamber of Commerce, the Prince Georges County Public Schools and the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated students to participate in the Countys Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) for 2014. Prince Georges County Government offers a six-week, entry-level introduction to public service for the youth of Prince Georges County, which provides enriching and constructive summer work experiences throughout the Prince Georges County Government in various departments and agencies. EXAMPLES OF WORK Work will vary depending upon the departments goals and objectives. Occupational fields may include: Accounting/Budget Aide, Clerical, Animal Services Aide, Custodial Assistant, Engineering Aide, Government/Political Aide, Healthcare Aide, Human Resources Aide, Information Technology Assistant, Laborer, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS In order to qualify for the County Governments Program, applicants must be a resident of Prince Georges County and between the ages of 15 and 19 by June 30, 2014. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION All notifications regarding employment status will be sent electronically via your email account. If you are offered employment, you will receive an offer letter. Applicants that are hired for the Youth@Work/SYEP, who are between the ages of 15-17, MUST apply for and present an official MINOR WORK PERMIT on the first day of employment (additional instructions will be outlined in the offer letter if selected for a position). ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, an employer is required to hire only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers. Applicants who are selected for employment will be required to show and verify authorization to work in the United States.
