Paramount has put $130 million into Darren Aronofskys movie, - TopicsExpress

Paramount has put $130 million into Darren Aronofskys movie, expecting a big return on its investment, but I dont think any audience wants to see a watered-down version of the artists work, or something pandering to a target audiences religious devotion. As a Christian, I want to see my spiritual forefathers honored and God given his due, AND I want to see creative freedom and vision in art as an expression of Gods creation. And Im annoyed that they would seek out the Popes endorsement, believing that such an endorsement would drive Catholics and other like-minded Christians to pay to see the movie -- given the Popes statements on the idolatry of money and income inequality, getting him to advertise a product so that Hollywood executives can make back their investment seems a little off. Im still watching this in the theater because I like Aronofsky and Crowes work, and I want to see Ray Winstone as antagonist Tubal-Cain get his just deserts in water. This isnt a biblical narrative -- its based on biblical narrative, and I think everyone gets that. And when it does come to Bible narratives, I only get sensitive about anything after Genesis 11: dont mess up Abraham. =)
