Parents, the following letter has been emailed to you this evening from Salpointes President and Principal: January 25, 2015 Dear Salpointe Community, Thank you for contacting us with your concerns about the safety of our student body. With the goal of providing a safe campus and in the spirit of open communication, we want to inform you as to what we know about a recent incident. On Thursday, we became aware of a potentially harmful threat made by a Salpointe student. We take every threat seriously. Tucson Police Department was involved in this investigation and the student fulfilled a police request to get an evaluation. The TPD investigation is now complete and no criminal intent was cited. Please know that the rumor mill (regarding a shooting at Mass tomorrow) far exceeds the threat that was actually made by the student. However, to bring peace of mind to our community, TPD will have a presence on campus in the coming weeks. This is a busy week at Salpointe as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. All activities will continue as scheduled. On Monday we will gather for our first all-school Mass in our new Foundation Hall; on Tuesday we salute Catholic educator Dave Keller at the Elizabeth Ann Seton Breakfast; on Wednesday we honor students selected by each of our teachers at Catholic Schools Week Breakfast, and on Friday we host the Dedication and Blessing of our new facilities.
