In addition, the magazine ranked Park No. 29 in the Midwest for ethnic diversity. The study determined where students were most likely to encounter undergraduates from different racial or ethnic groups, factoring the total proportion of minority students, with the exception of international students, and the overall mix of the student body. The categories calculated were Black or African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian, Pacific Islander, White (non-Hispanic) and multiracial. The magazine surveyed more than 1,800 colleges and universities for its 2013 survey of undergraduate programs.
