Hellyer P.C. Toronto - The Honourable Paul T. Hellyer has a dire message for Parliament and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper - “Do not ratify CETA - the Canadian European Trade Agreement”. In a bold and revealing public statement, Hellyer, former minister of defence, and Canadas senior privy councillor stated, “CETA unilaterally alters the Canadian Constitution - which is not legal without the consent of the majority of Canadian provinces and the majority of Canadians - by compromising parliaments absolute control over money and banking in Canada. It would give European banks the right to sue Canada for hundreds of billions if we returned to something similar to the monetary system we had in Canada from 1939 to 1974.” Mr. Hellyer is formally announcing he will be embarking on a tour of select Ontario cities to deliver this dramatic and dire message to Parliament and Canadians about the future of the Canadian economy if the CETA accord is ratified by Parliament as outlined in his new book MONEY MAFIA - A World in Crisis. According to Hellyer, CETA - the Canadian European Trade Agreement - is the single-most profound threat to the sovereignty of Canada and its economic future. Hellyer plans to outline this warning during visits to Ottawa, London, Guelph and Kingston Ontario in the next four weeks. Having just returned from a visit to Juno Beach, Vimy Ridge, Ypres, and other battlefields where Canadians fought and died in World Wars I & II, and then, noting the continued distress of the European economies, Hellyer appears convinced, as he alleges in his new book THE MONEY MAFIA - A World in Crisis, that nearly all public policy in the last forty years has been headed in the wrong direction, and must be reversed at once. In a statement to his supporters during his European tour, Hellyer explained, The rights and freedoms for which millions of people fought and died are fast being eroded.” Hellyer went on to say, CETA, and similar agreements that are in the works will be a coup detat for the international banking cartel and transnational corporations. Government of, by, and for the people will be lost forever.” This statement by Hellyer clearly indicates he is adamant that this treaty be stopped in its tracks. Hellyers public tour of the province of Ontario furthermore demonstrates the immediacy of the need to have public pressure block Parliamentary ratification of the CANADIAN EUROPEAN TRADE AGREEMENT. The Council of Canadians is also adamantly opposed to this trade deal. In a little known component of the treaty with the EU, Hellyer points to a critical constitutional constraint that will be placed on Canadian governance. He states, The stakes are so high, because the Investor-State Disputes Settlement Mechanism would effectively end the freedom of any future government to use its constitutional power to provide jobs and career opportunities for the million unemployed young Canadians.” In order to get his message to Parliamentarians, Hellyer has sent letters of invitation to members of parliament inviting them to come to his meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday, November 26, to find out why voting for CETA would be a betrayal of their country i.e. selling it down the river to a small minority of the richest, most ruthless and least caring people on Earth.
