Peoples Climate March organised worldwide against Climate change:Peoples Climate March, a campaign to curb carbon emissions was organsied on 21 September 2014 ahead of the United Nations climate summit. The climate march attracted thousands of marchers in more than 2000 locations worldwide. The participants were demanding urgent action on climate change. UN chief Ban ki-moon also attended the march in Manhattan along with over 3 lakh other participants. The UN Secretary General was accompanied by primatologist Jane Goodall and the French Ecology Minister, Segolene Royal. Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio also took part, having been appointed as a UN representative on climate change on 16 September 2014. Apart from this, the march witnessed huge demonstrations in Australia and Europe. Whereas, the Climate march witnessed more than 2500 people from across India on the streets of New Delhi making the march, this was the nation’s strongest ever call for climate action. About UN Climate Summit UN Chief, Ban Ki-moon has invited world leaders, from government, finance, business, and civil society to Climate Summit to galvanize and catalyze climate action. The summit is supposed to be to be held on 23 September 2014 in New York. At the United Nations climate summit in New York, the countries are supposed to discuss and work toward reaching an international climate change accord at the end of 2015 that would go into effect in 2020.
