Perhaps you remember Anne Lamotts deeply spiritual aphorism, which goes something like: Any problem that can be solved with money isnt a real problem. I am so not feeling it today. Our five-year-old dishwasher runs perfectly, except that for the last six months or so the dishes never get clean. And now our four-year-old refrigerator/freezer has stopped getting cold. The lights are on, but nobodys home. We lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled food yesterday and have no idea how much it will cost to fix the thing (Im waiting on a repairman now). Admittedly not the end of the world, but it sure feels like a problem to me.
