Personal account of 9/11 Our countrys ego was pretty impressive. How we believed we were untouchable and nobody would even think of attacking us on our own soil. Before the conspiracy theories, documentaries, and sensationalism began, before the war and wars that followed we never should have been in...we all sat as a nation and watched in horror...disbelief. Most of us couldnt comprehend what we were seeing. Our local radio announcer weeped telling the report, I retrieved my girls from school and held them tight. In the hours that followed lasting up to about 3 days I remember looking at the people of my town and for a brief bittersweet time we were United in our grief. I never felt closer to my community. We had all lost what remained of our innocence as a country. I wont say Ill never forget 9/11. I cant forget.
