Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is - TopicsExpress

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. It seems like this scripture has been showing up everywhere lately. After the third completely unconnected place that I read this today I stopped, slowed my mind down and simply asked, “What are you trying to say God?” It was then that I was able to hear what I was thinking. I mean how often do we really think about what we are thinking about? You start to realize that you are not promised forever. There is this urgency to time and a minimizing of differences, grudges and past mistakes. My thoughts keep sifting like a miner panning for gold, sifting off the rock, sand and rubble to let the gold appear. I have to let the rest go because the gold is so worth it. Maybe that is why Philippians 4 keeps coming up. It’s reminding me that what I focus on, what I think about is a choice. I can not afford to focus on the things of the past that I wish were different or the things in my life that I want and don’t have. My expectations become like with drawls from a bank account that doesn’t have an overdraft. It simply leaves me longing, sometimes negative and usually bitter. I want to be so full of love in my mind, heart and actions that anyone who gets near me gets the overflow of something amazing and encouraging! God help me to focus on the things that you focus on today. Let my thoughts be yours and my actions follow your heart
