Philippians 4:8New King James Version (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Friends, I have found this to be a profound truth; our daily battles begin in our mind and manifest themselves in our action and intern become major defeat in our lives. If you and I understand the power of our thoughts we would have already won half the battle. It is very easy to fall prey to our negative thoughts and feelings, you may minimize it to a simple- its just human nature and I can’t help it. Yes you can! “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom” I agree that there are a lot of negative drama in our world today and of course because we are human beings we sometimes get sucked into the sensationalism in and around our environment. Have you ever noticed how effortless it is to get up in the morning and see something to be negative about but how difficult it is to see the good around you? We complain about the sunshine, the rain, the snow, our neighbors, our job, the person who frowned at us in the grocery store, the guy who cut us off on the highway and the list goes on. We so readily think the worst of God’s creative providence. Don’t know about you but I am guilty! It’s too hot, too much rain, its too cold, can’t stand my neighbor: they never cut my grass-they are selfish. I hate my job, life sucks, nothing is going my way and I am too fat, too tired, and too broke. We constantly want to change what is, we fight against the natural process of life mainly because we are not at peace with who we are and have not yet identified our purpose on the earth. Instead of us aligning ourselves with the will of God we continue to fight against His divine authority in and throughout the earth. The word of God is admonishing us to do the exact opposite of what we see, feel and think. And that is to align our mind and spirit with His truth. This is not always easy to do, but if you and I put our focus on one good thing everyday we will eventually be able to see something positive in every situation and in every created thing. Remember, we are our thoughts and we usually become and/or have whatever we meditate on. I once heard someone said “you shall have what you say” this is true; you will have exactly what you say. You don’t have to literally say it out loud…. It is even more dangerous when it takes root in your thoughts; it has the ability to ruin your life and anyone in your path. So my dear friends, “ whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things”. Dear Lord, help us to look to You this week, I pray that our thoughts will be in alignment with what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely and of good report, Thank You for extending your loving kindness and tender mercies toward us . Amen!
