Since yesterday, crews have cleared all streets identified as priority one in the Whitecourt Snow and Ice Control Policy, and are currently clearing public facility parking areas (such as the Allan & Jean Millar Centre and Scott Safety Centre). Assuming that the weather forecast remains the same, and that there are no additional snow accumulations, the following work schedule will be followed: • Snow removal in parts of the hilltop area will be conducted on Wednesday, December 4. Residents are asked to watch for ‘no parking’ signs that have been posted. • Snow clearing and removal in the downtown commercial area is scheduled for Friday, December 6. ‘No parking’ signs will be posted in advance in affected areas. • Crews will also be returning to remove snow piles from cul de sacs. Due to higher than normal snow accumulations and warm temperatures experienced last week, all residential streets have been plowed. If snow was piled onto sidewalks adjacent to your home, you will not be required to shovel the sidewalks this winter season. If you are unsure if you are required to clear the sidewalk adjacent to your property, directional movement maps are available on the Town’s website or you can contact the Town Office for assistance. To help you keep your walks safe, the Town of Whitecourt has free sand available for personal use. The sand is located in the parking lot north of the Whitecourt Legion building located at 4928 51 Avenue.
