Please join me in the ongoing campaign to free Nadia Savchenko. This is a text I wrote and sent to several European political figures: Dear... I know you are a busy man: there are many problems in your own country and the world that need your attention. Still, I am writing to you as a member of Human Rights Committee, and a European. Europe seems to be a mundane concern when you are born and raised on the European soil, but for people of Ukraine Europe is a shining aspiration of everything that is right, human, and just. The current upheaval in Ukraine is mainly due to the ardent desire of the majority of the population to become a part of Europe - if not legally, but at least in essence and spirit. It turned out to be a bloody battle indeed. By turning its back on this struggle, Europe is not only making itself weaker in military, geopolitical, and social sense, but also losing the spirit of humanity and justice that makes it appealing in the first place. Therefore, please make an earnest effort to help in this particular case. The abduction of Nadia Savchenko is undoubtedly a work of the same evil propaganda machine that had zombied Russian population and snakes its way into the minds of disenfranchised minorities in Europe and elsewhere. As a member of the Ukrainian military, a fighter pilot who happens to be a beautiful woman, she makes the perfect The Enemy of the People figure, Orwellian style. You should read multiple comments on the discussion boards around her case, and they will amaze you with the intensity of sparkling hatred and fear stemming from the depth of collective unconsciousness. For the people of Ukraine she is just the opposite: the later days Jeanne DArc; the symbol of bravery and suffering for Mother Ukraine. We should also not forget that she is not an empty symbol, but the actual human being, slowly crashed for a political cause.
